Super Sailor Moon: Moon Crisis, Make Up!

This piece is beautiful, of course. The softness of the shading and the added glow combine for a wonderful effect. Sailor Moon's eyes, however, are my favorite part. They're just... stunning. They look light blue at first but since the pupil is highlighted a little, you get that dark blue like in the background... and it creates that effect... "eyes like the night sky," you know?

The hair is also gorgeous. There's lots of awesome wispiness (if that's a word) and a good range of shadow and highlight. I think well-done hair is pretty much expected for artwork of this caliber, so it's hard to comment on besides saying it's beautiful but... I can definitely appreciate how much effort goes into it... especially Sailor Moon's hair and all the tendrils.

Two minor points of improvement... 1) The centerline of her body is a little off... for instance, the 'v' of her collar is a bit to the right, the '^' under her breasts is a bit to the left, and the bottom brooch is off to the right. Her legs also seem too far back, although that's an extremely minor thing, since they're only in like the bottom 5% of the piece. I bet they could be missing and some people wouldn't notice. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/a/a…" width="19" height="19" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="417" title="Sweating a little..."/>; Anyway... 2) The brooches could use more shading in my opinion. They just look a little flat compared to everything around them. Again, though, it's a minor thing.

To finish up, I have to say again that this is a gorgeous piece of artwork, definitely deserving of a high rating. I only took off in originality because Sailor Moon in front of a starry sky is a pretty typical image (which isn't necessarily bad).


An added note... I was assuming that the spots on Sailor Moon were just splotches in the coloring (whether they were purposeful or not) but in some places it looks like it might be the starry background showing through... it's kind of cool.
